ABOUT

Hello! I’m Jamie McGeorge, a teacher educator, trainer and educational consultant based in Schiedam, the Netherlands. Originally from Jefferson City, Missouri, I’ve spent most of my adult life teaching, training and working in education internationally, with experience across the US, Asia and Europe.
Over two decades in education, my work has increasingly focused on developing other educators. As a Cambridge CELTA tutor and former DELTA local tutor, I design and facilitate training in lesson and course design, teaching methodology, active and student-centered learning, classroom practice, materials and task design, assessment, feedback and reflective practice. I also support teachers through supervised lesson planning, observation of teaching, individual and group coaching and developmental feedback.
Alongside teacher education, I have extensive experience in language assessment and professional training. I work as an examiner and examiner trainer, training, standardizing and monitoring assessment professionals, and I have also worked in test-item writing, academic skills, course and materials design, and English for academic and professional purposes.
My approach to teaching and professional learning is practical, reflective and evidence-informed. I’m particularly interested in how learning objectives, learning activities and assessment work together, and in helping educators translate educational principles into approaches they can apply, evaluate and adapt in their own contexts.
I hold a BA in English Literature, Cambridge CELTA and DELTA, and I’m currently completing an MEd in Educational Technology at Keele University. My current interests include learning design, educational innovation, inclusive teaching and the implications of generative AI for teaching, learning and assessment.
Having taught and trained people from a wide range of linguistic, cultural, educational and professional backgrounds, I’m particularly interested in designing learning that is responsive to context rather than assuming that the same approach will work for everyone.
